The Smith-Cotton Marching Tigers have been selected as the only band from the state of Missouri to appear at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tn. on New Year’s Day. It’s a great trip for these band members, but it’s expensive.  Of the $30,000+ needed, T.I.M.P.O. (Tiger Instrumental Music Promoters Organization) had managed to raise all but about $8,000. Enter McCarthy Toyota of Sedalia.

Upon acquiring the former Town & Country Motors on West Broadway, one of their first orders of business was to seek out ways to become good partners with the community. On hearing that the band was so close, officials at McCarthy decided they would donate a portion of the proceeds from every car sold from Nov. 27 through Dec. 5 to help send the S-C band to Memphis.

This (Friday) afternoon, Kelly Stelling, McCarthy GM reported sales of 23 new & used cars and that, added to the $2,000 that McCarthy Toyota donated at their first meeting, ensured that none of the band members would miss the trip due to lack of funds.

Is that Christmas spirit or what? We’d say the only thing missing from this picture is Kelly Stelling’s Santa hat!
