The Benton County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol had actively been searching for the identity of the body that was found in Truman Lake last weekend (September 30).  After a week of investigating, the Missouri State Highway Patrol announced that the body was that of 15-year-old Khighla Parks, who had been missing from her home in Willard, Missouri for the last two weeks.  The identification occurred as a result of DNA testing.

According to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff's Office, Parks was last seen on September 20 walking in the vicinity of her home near North State Highway AB and West State Highway EE in Greene County.  Parks body was discovered on September 30 in the Truman Lake.

Investigators from the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the Greene County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol are working jointly on this homicide investigation.
