On June 21 Pettis County Sheriff’s Office conducted a well-being check on a three-year old child that reportedly had received burns to his legs.

The child was later transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital for care and treatment of his burn injuries.

The child spent 14 days in the burn unit of Children’s Mercy Hospital receiving care and treatment for the 2nd and 3rd degree burns he received. During the subsequent investigation, it was learned the child had received the burns on June 12.

After investigating the report, the child’s mother, Rebecca Stetzenbach and step father Dylan Stetzenback were arrested over the injuries the child received after an initial appearance in court. Warrants were sought through Pettis County Prosecutor Phillip Sawyer and were issued on June 30.
