A 20-vehicle crash on the Missouri River Bridge on I-70 near Rocheport caused traffic to come to an abrupt halt Monday afternoon.

The first crash occurred at 12:55 p.m., followed by 19 other vehicles that couldn't stop in time in the westbound lanes, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Two people were hurt and taken to a hospital, including a 69-year-old woman and a 19-year-old male.

Fifteen of the vehicles involved in the crashes were totaled.

Traffic was shut down for over two hours as traffic was diverted to Highway 40, according to MoDOT.
