New Pumper To Go Into Service on East Side of Sedalia Soon
A brand new half-million dollar pumper was delivered to the Sedalia Fire Department on Friday, and was on display Monday night at the Sedalia City Council meeting.
“It's the latest pumper and has been on order for about 16 months. It is a scheduled replacement, so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. We're looking at two or three weeks before it goes into service, once it's equipped and drivers certified, it will be assigned to the Central Fire Station on Hancock on the east side of Sedalia,” said Sedalia Fire Chief Greg Harrell.
Chief Harrell noted that the department worked out a process with the manufacturer and dealer rep that “they were allowed to use the truck for a couple of months as a demo and we got a pretty substantial cost savings when we ordered the truck,” he said.
Harrell is celebrating 40 years of service to the City of Sedalia. He was honored by Mayor John Kehde at the start of Monday night's meeting, followed by a round of applause from the Council.
