A press release from the MSHP says the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department provided a description of a vehicle involved in the incident and advised that the suspect vehicle was traveling on I-35.

A Patrol trooper observed a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle  and attempted to overtake it.

The trooper reportedly observed the vehicle exit I-35 and travel westbound on Route N in Daviess County.

The trooper then overtook the suspect vehicle and observed it slide through the intersection of Route N and US-69 and crash into a ditch.

The male driver and a female passenger fled the vehicle and the trooper pursued on foot. The male suspect reportedly fired shots at the trooper. The trooper then returned fire, striking the suspect who was subsequently taken into custody. The female subject was apprehended a short time later.

The suspect was taken to a Kansas City area hospital.

At last report, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control and Daviess County Sheriff’s Department were on scene conducting an investigation into the shooting. The name of the suspect has not been released.
