Olen A. Howard, 88, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at The Arbors of Westport Estates in Marshall, MO.

He was born June 25, 1925, in Knobby, MO, son of James A. and Emily Chancellor Howard. Mr. Howard was a 1943 graduate of Climax Springs High School. On November 14, 1948, in Sedalia, he married Virginia R. Shelley, who survives of the home.

He was president of Howard Farms, Howard Ready Mix and Howard Quarries. He and his brother, Marvin, were partners in Howard Construction, which was organized in 1945.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God, later becoming affiliated with Assembly of God, and attended Bethel Assembly in Sedalia in later years until his health failed.

He enjoyed boating at the Lake of the Ozarks near Warsaw.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, survivors include two daughters, Darlene Keele Bradbury and Shirley Rowden, both of Sedalia; two grandsons, Micah Rowden, and his wife, Julie, of Sedalia; Tim Keele, and his wife, Angie, of Sedalia: and one granddaughter, Christy Rowden, of Springfield, MO; one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Keele; and one great-grandson, Lincoln Howard Keele.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; his brother, Marvin Howard; and two sons-in-law, Donald Bradbury and Randal Rowden.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Gray officiating.

Casket bearers will be Micah Rowden, Tim Keele, Mike Howard, Jim Franklin, Steven Lee and Marvin Kreisel.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Bethel Assembly or State Fair Community College Foundation for the Olen Howard Family Scholarship.
