Open Door Service Center proudly announces its upcoming fundraising gala, Break Bread, Raise Hope: A Night of Royalty, taking place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at The MEC Building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

This year’s theme, A Night of Royalty, reflects Open Door’s belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and worth — and that We Are More when we come together as a community.

This annual event will raise funds for Open Door Service Center’s life-sustaining programs, including its food pantry, soup kitchen, service center, and the mission as a whole. Guests are invited to attend not only for a night of elegance and entertainment, but to stand alongside Open Door’s dedicated staff, selfless volunteers, generous donors, and steadfast supporters — all of whom work daily to meet urgent needs and lift lives across the region.

Duke Manufacturing is the Premier ‘King and Queen’ Sponsor of this year’s event. Duke Manufacturing is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and 55 of those years as a proud employer and member of the Sedalia community.

“We’re honored to support Open Door Service Center’s mission and the Break Bread, Raise Hope gala,” said Greg Hake, President of Duke Manufacturing.

“We are inspired by the mission of Open Door, and united in shared values and commitment to the Sedalia community. Our Purpose at Duke is to Nourish Our World, and we could not imagine a more appropriate way to celebrate that Purpose during our 100 Year Celebration than to partner in this special Gala, he said.”

The gala promises an evening of joy and purpose, featuring a live and silent auction, happy hour with hors d'oeuvres, catered dinner, guest speakers, and exciting royal-themed games including Trunk of Treasure, Diamond Discovery, Crown for a Cause, and Wine Pull & Whiskey Draw.

This year’s theme, A Night of Royalty, ties into Open Door’s guiding message: We Are More — more than a pantry, more than a thrift shop, more than a soup kitchen — a lifeline for those in need.

“Duke Manufacturing’s generosity helps us extend our reach and deepen our impact,” said Amanda Davis, executive director of Open Door.

“Their investment ensures we can continue meeting basic needs with dignity, compassion, and hope,” she concluded.
