An Osage Beach man drowned at the Lake of the Ozarks on Tuesday after a canoe he was in flipped over.

According to the MSHP, 24-year-old Somodd R. Kong of Osage Beach was in a 17-foot “Alumacraft” canoe along with 28-year-old Nicholas R. Compton of Lebanon just after 3:30 p.m. at the 18 ½ mile marker of the main channel in Camden County when they both fell overboard.

Both attempted to swim to shore. Compton made it, while Kong did not.
