Platte City Man Arrested for Child Pornography

A 57-year old man from Platte City, MO was recently arrested on child pornography charges.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control says 57-year old Ross S. Steele, 57, of Platte City, was arrested July 25 for promoting child pornography.

The arrest was reportedly the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit.

On July 25, investigators executed a search warrant at Steele’s residence located on NW 134th Court in Platte City. As a result of the search, investigators seized child pornography and computer equipment. Steele was taken to the Platte County Jail with no bond.

Then on July 26, the Platte County Prosecutor's Office formally charged Steele with one count of promoting child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force assisted in the investigation.
