Ralph Henry Chaney, 96, of Green Ridge, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.  He was born on December 2, 1915, in Henry County, near Calhoun, Mo, the oldest of seven children of George M. and Mary Pearl (Horning) Chaney.   The family moved to a farm west of Green Ridge in 1920.  Ralph graduated from Green Ridge High School and lived most of his life in the Green Ridge area.  He was a member of the Green Ridge Baptist Church.  He was a cattleman and a member of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, The National Cattlemen’s Association and the Quarterhorse Association.  He enjoyed riding his horses and caring for his cattle until 2009, when he moved to assisted living, first at Stoney Ridge and later The Essex in Sedalia.   He married Orilla Ellen Greene on August 10, 1941.  She preceded him in death on October 3, 1982.  He married Lois Jeffries Britt on November 7, 1984, who survives of Windsor Healthcare.   He is also survived by two daughters, Sue Ellen Austin of Mexico, MO and Shirley Ann Brown and her husband, Larry E. of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Stacy Allee and her husband, David of California, MO, Richard D. Brown of Jeffersonville, IN, Robyne Brown of Lee’s Summit, MO, Kelley McCann and her husband, Chris of Liberty, MO and Julie Brown and her husband, Micah Rowden of Sedalia; nine great-grandchildren, Shelby Allee of California, MO, Richard M. Brown, Nathaniel Lake Brown, Jacob Brown, all of Jeffersonville, IN, Nicole Watchus of Belton,MO, Chaney Elizabeth, Taylor Joseph, both of Lee’s Summit, MO, Olivia McCann, Joe McCann, both of Liberty, MO; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Elburn Chaney of Green Ridge; one sister, Reta Faye Warren of Sedalia; six nieces and three nephews.   Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. H. Willis Chaney and Roy Chaney; two sisters, Lorene Williams and Mary Schlotzhauer.   Ralph requested his body be gifted to the University of Missouri, School of Medicine.   A memorial service will be held at a later date.   Memorial contributions may be given to the Green Ridge Baptist Church or the Green Ridge High School Alumni Scholarship Fund in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
