Anastasia Bellamy, a senior at Smith-Cotton High School, has accepted a scholarship to play basketball at Hillsborough Community College in Plant City, Fla.

Bellamy, who transferred to S-C this school year, is averaging 16 points and 14
rebounds per game for the Lady Tigers. She has highs of 26 points in one game and 20
rebounds in another.

Bellamy believes Hillsborough is a good fit for her personally and athletically.

“When I went on my visit, it was a good experience and … I had a good
connection with the girls and with the coaches,” she said. “They are all-around good
people and they seem like they care."

During her time at Smith-Cotton, she has learned that coaches will be demanding
as they encourage players to improve.

“The hardest thing is taking in the criticism, but at the same time, I feel like to
was able to take it and … not make excuses for anything,” she said.

S-C Girls Basketball Head coach Ron Rhodes said Bellamy has been a team
contributor since her first day with the team.

“Her growth as a person has really taken off the past month or two,” Rhodes
said. “She has matured, she understands now that it takes a lot of work … and has been a pleasant person to coach. I am super proud of her and I wish her the best of luck.”
