Police took a report of an incident involving weapons around 7:30 p.m. on August 5 in Liberty Park. Police were told that two black males brandished pistols and forced another man to leave the basketball court. Police are investigating.


A Sedalia man was arrested around 3:20 a.m. on August 5 after police were dispatched on a report of a suspicious couple walking in the neighborhood in the area of Honeysuckle Rd. and Poplar Place. Police say one of the suspects provided a false identity, then attempted to run and resist arrest. 29-year-old Damon James Schmidt was found to have active warrants for his arrest from Pulaski County. Schmidt was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold, pending state charges for identity theft, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear.


Police say a 34-year-old Sedalia woman resisted arrest by hitting officers as she was being taken into custody on August 4. According to a police report, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after it was determined that its registered owner had a Sedalia municipal warrant. Candice Nachelle Johnson was placed in a WRAP device after allegedly striking officers, and was then transported to the Pettis County Jail.


A 26-year-old Sedalia man was issued a citation for no operators license and a summons for possession of marijuana. Police say Kendal Dale Brown was stopped near Lafayette and 3rd St. when police saw a motorcycle with no license on the back.


A 27-year-old Sedalia man with two active Pettis County warrants on original charges of possession of amphetamines and dangerous drugs was arrested on August 3. Police transported Calvin Wade Comfort to the Pettis County Jail.


Police were dispatched last just after 10 p.m. on July 30 to Housel Park for a possible suicide in progress by hanging. Once on the scene, it was determined that no hanging had occurred, but the victim was suffering a medical issue due to an overdose. Police say several baggies of controlled substances were discovered. The victim, who was not identified, was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center. State charges are being requested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.
