Sedalia Police are requesting charges against two suspects who were interviewed regarding a fraud case. Police were contacted on August 4 and were told that two individuals had used a bank card to make $940 worth of fraudulent transactions. 34-year-old Alicia Dee Smith of Tipton, and 38-year-old Chastity Lynn Rumsey of Sedalia, were taken into custody on August 18 and interviewed at the police department. Charges are now being requested on both suspects for fraudulent use of a credit card device and for stealing.


Police say the odor of marijuana was detected during traffic stop on August 19 near Main St. and State Fair Blvd. A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly revealed that a passenger was in possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana. 20-year-old Cruz Escobar was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released. Charges are being sought for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.


A 45-year-old Tipton woman was taken to the Morgan County Jail on charges of third degree felony assault, and second degree property damage. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Shelly R. Martens was arrested around 10:17 a.m. on September 17.
