Ordinance Repeal Effort Fails, 4-3
The Sedalia City Council met in Special session for 22 minutes Wednesday afternoon to consider whether to appeal Ordinance 12490 relating to levying and providing for the collection of taxes for 2026.
The bill to repeal did not pass by a vote of four no to three yes.
Council members Bob Cross, Michele Franklin, Jack Robinson and Cheryl Ames voted no, while Tina Boggess, David Covington and Spencer Redford voted yes.
Councilman Lee Scribner was absent from Wednesday’s meeting.
Also during the meeting, although not listed on the agenda, was a plea from Local 103 President Josh Nelson to consider creating a dedicated sales tax for Sedalia firefighters. Delivering his speech from an iPad, Firefighter Nelson said it would create long-term stability for his firefighters.
