Sedalia Fire Responds to Numerous Incidents Over The Weekend

The Sedalia Fire Department has been very busy the past several days responding to calls for service, including the following:

On Thursday, June 4, Sedalia Fire responded to 820 West 20th street at 1:46 p.m. to a single family residence, with smoke and fire showing upon arrival. There was fire and smoke damage to a rear bedroom and smoke damage throughout the residence.

There were no injuries to occupants or fire fighters reported.

The cause of the fire was an overheated ballast and was accidental in nature. Last unit cleared the scene at 3:11 p.m.

On Friday, June 5, Sedalia Fire responded to 669 E. 16th street at 7:26 a.m. to a single family residence with smoke and fire showing upon arrival. There was smoke and fire damage to one room and smoke damage throughout the residence.

There were no injuries to the occupants or fire fighters reported.

The cause of fire was an electrical issue and was accidental in nature. Last unit cleared: the scene at 3:11 p.m.

On Friday, June 5, Sedalia Fire responded to 321 W. 6th street at 4:30 p.m. to a multi-family dwelling. There was heavy fire damage to the first floor, smoke and water damage throughout the first floor, and smoke damage throughout the second floor.
There were no injuries reported to the occupants or firefighters.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal was called to assist with the investigation.
In addition, the Sedalia PD detectives unit was called to assist.

The fire has been determined to be incendiary in nature, and is currently under investigation by SPD and the State Fire Marshal. The last unit cleared the scene at approximately 11 p.m.

On Saturday, June 6, Sedalia Fire responded to 311 East 11th at 2:11 a.m.

There was smoke and fire showing upon arrival. There was fire damage to two rooms and the attic area. There was smoke and water damage throughout the residence.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal called to assist with the investigation. The fire determined to be an electrical short in a bedroom.

There were no injuries reported by firefighters and there was no one home at time of the fire. The last units cleared the scene at approximately 6 a.m.

Sedalia Fire also responded to a small cooking fire at 332 McAnally at the same time of the fire at 820 W. 20th street on Thursday.

Sedalia Fire also responded to 1604 E. 13th street on Saturday in which a small motor in a roof vent caught fire.

There was also a dumpster fire at 2125 W. Broadway (Little Caeser's Pizza) on Sunday.
