A Sedalia man was apprehended on Saturday concerning a domestic disturbance that occurred Nov. 29 at a Westwood Avenue apartment.

The victim reported that her husband, later identified as Willie R. Waddell, arrived intoxicated and became irate when she declined to prepare food for him immediately. The victim reportedly told Waddell to wait as she was smoking a cigarette. According to statements, Waddell threw the victim to the ground and placed his hands around her throat, though she noted she was still able to breathe.

A witness at the scene corroborated the account, but police observed no visible injuries. Waddell fled the scene on foot before officers arrived and attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. Authorities have since requested charges for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree, citing Waddell's prior convictions for similar offenses in 2020.

A warrant was issued for Waddell on Dec. 11. He was apprehended and booked in the Pettis County Jail on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Waddell also has charges pending for Driving While Revoked or Suspended, Aggravated DWI, and Resisting or Interfering With an Arrest for a Felony.
