A Sedalia man was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday morning in Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2002 Chevy Impala, driven by 30-year-old Jonathan Hernandez of Sedalia, was at Cedar Drive and Griessen Road just before 9 a.m., when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway. The Impala struck a ditch, then a telephone pole and came to rest on its top. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene by Pettis County Deputy Coroner Wassam at 9:35 a.m.

The vehicle was totaled and towed by InMotion.

Sedalia Police and Pettis County Deputies assisted the two Troopers on scene.

This was the 12th fatal crash and the 14th fatality for Pettis County in 2023.
