Sedalia Man Slightly Injured in Tractor Crash

A Sedalia man suffered minor injuries Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Pettis County.

Christopher A. Newton, 36, was eastbound on Route V, west of Van Dyke Road at 5:30 p.m. in a 1993 Chevy 1500 when he approached an eastbound John Deere Tractor 6300 driven by Chloe B. Schwartz, 21, Stover, that had slowed to make a left-hand turn. Newton attempted to pass the tractor and struck it, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Both drivers were wearing safety devices. Newton refused treatment at the scene, the report said.

The tractor was driven from the scene, while the Chevy was totaled and towed from the scene by State Fair Towing.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Department assisted the Patrol with the investigation.
