The body of a Sedalia man who was reported missing since Thanksgiving, was found Friday in Morgan County.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Morgan County Sheriff Norman Dills in a press release.

According to Sheriff's Dills, his department received a report of a possible deceased body on private property near Highway M and Pond Road.

Investigation determined that the deceased person was Jimmy JD Collins of Sedalia.

On Saturday, Dec. 18th with the assistance of the KCMO Aircraft Division, Collins' vehicle was located submerged in a pond about 140 yards west of where Collins was found.

Members of the Mid-County Fire Department's dive team and Garber Diesel Service assisted in the recovery of the vehicle, Sheriff Dills said.

An autopsy was performed at the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office Monday and preliminary results showed signs of hypothermia as a possible contributing factor in Collins' death.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to friends and family," said Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders in a facebook post on Tuesday.
