Sedalia Optimist Club Feeds Hungry Kids on ‘Youth Day At The Fair’
The Sedalia Optimist Club provided half-price admission tickets, a free lunch and free carnival rides to kids from Saline, Pettis and Benton counties during Youth Day At The Fair, which was Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Optimist club member Charlotte Scholl spoke with KSIS about the event.
“I just sent the word out, and they showed up,” Scholl said, adding that she was expecting 350 kids to come & go on that day at the white & yellow tent located just north of Hedrick’s pig racing tent and south of the Charolais barn.

The Optimist Youth Day at the Fair has been happening for over 30 years, Scholl said.
Donations came from the Girl Scouts, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Noonday Optimists Club and the Marshall Optimist Club.
Club Vice President John Schwenke said the Sedalia Optimist Club now has 35 members. “We’re always looking for new members,” he said.
