Sedalia Park Board Okays $90K Change Order for Liberty Park Stadium
The Sedalia Park Board has authorized a change order for construction at Liberty Park Baseball Stadium for up to $90,000.
The extra money will be used to stabilize the soil in the outfield so it is compacted correctly once the artificial turf is installed.
Specifically, “soil in the outfield did not pass a proof roll with a fully-loaded tandem-axle pickup truck.”
The board met for its final session of 2024 last Thursday, minus board members Megan Simon and Sydni Killion. They were also minus Parks & Rec Director Amy Epple, who got invited to the Governor’s Mansion for a special event.
In her place was Grant Facilitator & Data Analyst John Simmons, who gave details on the change order, as well as pool chemical bids and the increase in wages for part-timers as of Jan. 1.
Safari Aquatics, LLC, was paid $14,688 for pool chemicals at the Heckart Community Center, according to a list of itemized bills for November.
On Jan. 1, 2025, Executive Order 14026 will raise the minimum wage rate for federal contractors to $17.75 per hour, according to the DOL notice published on Sept. 30, 2024.
In Missouri, a minimum wage of $13.75 per hour will take effect on January 1, 2025, and a minimum wage of $15.00 per hour will take effect on January 1, 2026. Thereafter, all future annual adjustments to the minimum wage will be based on the Consumer Price Index.
Install of new playground equipment at Katy Park is complete. Work on a retaining wall should be completed by mid-January.
Amy Epple and Jeremy Stone met with Parks Project Manager Matt Harris in November to talk about a storm water project on Liberty Park Blvd. Part of the project will involve creating between 85 and 90 angled parking spaces to be located between the Liberty Pond and Stadium Boulevard.
Also in November, Harris received bids for removal of the old pool and playground at Hubbard Park.
Board President Jerry Case presided over last Thursday's meeting.
Park Board will meet again on Thursday, Jan. 9.
