If you've wanted to see movies on the big screen, it's been a frustrating few months. Your only option has been investing a big screen TV to watch films at home, or head to one of our area drive-ins, which aren't that close. Well Sedalia Parks and Recreation has you covered with their Outdoor Movie Night scheduled for Saturday Night August 1.

Parks and Rec will be screening "The Sandlot" at Katy Park with a scheduled start time of 8:30PM CDT. The Internet Movie Database's synopsis for the film, in case your not familiar with it says:

In the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures.

The film, which is a favorite of many kids who grew up with it is rated PG and most parents would find it acceptable for older kids and tweens. If you'd like to get more information on the film and whether it's appropriate for your kids you can check out parents guides on IMDB and Dove.org.

The event is free to attend and popcorn and movie snacks will be available for purchase. Katy Park is at 24th & Grand Street, Sedalia. The movie is scheduled to run one hour and forty minutes.
