On April 5, deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff's Office recovered stolen property from the 4500 block of S. Limit. The property owner was located and the items were returned.


A Gravois Mills man was arrested on a variety of charges following a traffic stop April 3 at the intersection of S. Limit and Plaza Ave. Sedalia Police say the driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Claybourn C. Shafer, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked and resisting arrest. Shafer also faces charges of improper lane usage and failure to register annually with the DOR. Police say a search warrant was executed to obtain a blood sample for testing purposes. Shafer was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.


Sedalia Police say a man was transported to University Hospital in Columbia after a gun went off and struck him in the leg. According to a police report, officers responded around 2 a.m. on April 5 to the 200 block of Rainbow, where two intoxicated men had reportedly gotten into an argument that escalated into a fight. After separating the men, police say one of them attempted to reposition a gun in his waistband. The gun went off and the man was struck in the right leg. The suspects were not identified in the police report, but state charges are being submitted. Police say the man that was shot suffered "non-life threatening injuries."
