A woman with an an outstanding administrative warrant of removal from the United States from the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement was taken into custody after officers responded to a reported disturbance in the area of S. Missouri Avenue and Wilkerson St. According to a police report, contact was made with a male and female at the address on January 21. Dispatch confirmed the warrant for the woman. 39-year-old Rosa Elena Rubio Leon was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


On January 20, deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff's Office arrested Freddie Naylor of Sedalia in the 1000 block of South Merriam on an active Pettis County warrant and for possession of a controlled substance (meth).


Sedalia Police were dispatched to Liquor Locker around 4:16 p.m. on January 20 on a report of a man attempting to purchase alcohol with a counterfeit $50 bill. A red Chevrolet Sonic reportedly came through the drive-thru window and a passenger ordered a six-pack of beer and attempted to pay with the counterfeit currency. The clerk attempted to stall the purchase so that police could be contacted, but the vehicle left prior to the arrival of officers. Police say a possible suspect has been identified, but attempts to contact him have not been successful.


A Sedalia man was arrested on multiple charges, including DWI, misdemeanor assault, and bribery of a public official, after a traffic stop for improper lane use just before 11 p.m. in the area of Broadway and Marvin on January 18. Police say the driver refused to do standard field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he reused to cooperate. The suspect was placed in a WRAP restraint system to keep him from harming himself or officers. A search warrant was obtained and blood was drawn, but not before the suspect allegedly spit on an officer, then tried to offer money to another officer to let him go. 40-year-old Jason L. Offiner was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


A Sedalia man was arrested on a Lee's Summit warrant for first degree rape on January 18. The Pettis County Sheriff's Office took Brendon A. Nelson into custody in the 900 block of McVey. Bond was set at $10,000.
