Sedalia Police reports 7-8-19

Sedalia Police responded to a traffic accident at 16th and Engineer on July 4 just before 10 p.m. The caller said one subject had a gun. Upon arrival, one subject was found with a gunshot wound to the head. 19-year-old  Robert “Robbie” David Withers, 19, of Sedalia, was taken to BRHC, where he was pronounced dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.


 

On July 3, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 7th and Missouri on a white Ford truck bearing a plate that belonged to a Dodge and also had defective tail lights. A computer check revealed that 41-year-old Johnnie R. Adams of Sedalia was driving while suspended. He was also a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and a knife. Adams was taken into custody and taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending the formal filing of charges.


 

An employee of Break Time, 318 W. Broadway, was accused of stealing five Missouri State Fair tickets while working at the store on the evening of July 4. The tickets were valued at $30 each. The suspect, 27-year-old Franklin L. Rouse, of Sedalia, was contacted and he admitted to taking the tickets. A Municipal summons was issued with an Aug. 21 court date.


 

On July 5, a woman reported the theft of two chain saws from her front porch on the 900 block of East 6th. One was a green and black 14-inch Poulon, and the other was a yellow and black Poulan.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop for equipment violation at 5th and Massachusetts at 1:20 a.m. Saturday. A female occupant was wanted on a Pettis County warrant for a probation violation with a $4,500 bond. 38-year-old Angie M. Steeves was also wanted on a Municipal warrant for illegal burning. Also wanted was another occupant of the vehicle, 28-year-old William Dustin Franken. He was wanted on a Cass County warrant with a $600 cash bond. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 14th and Engineer around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening on a car displaying plates belonging to another vehicle. The driver, 36-year-old Brandon J. Miller of Sedalia, was wanted on a Saline County warrant with a $2,500 cash bond. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police, along with Pettis County deputies, conducted a warrant check in the 24000 block of Highway 765 around 9 p.m. Friday night. 33-year-old Russell L. Tyler was wanted on a Lafayette County warrant for stealing. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond.


 

On July 2, Sedalia Police took a report of a theft from vehicle at WalMart, 3201 W. Broadway. And on July 6, police contacted a witness and a suspect was identified. 35-year-old Shannon Dale Davis of Sedalia was arrested and charged with stealing. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 8:54 p.m. July on a vehicle with no front plate at Ohio and Johnson. The diver, 40-year-old LaShawn Andrew Combs of Sedalia, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Combs was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on one count of possession of a dangerous drug, and released.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a car stop on a red Mustang at Broadway and Winchester just before 7 p.m. Saturday. The driver, 25-year-old Brandon Lee Ede of Pettis County, was found to be driving while revoked.


 

On Saturday around 9:50 a.m., a woman reported a hit-and-run while her car was parked near 15th and Wagner. Her 2014 Nissan had damage to the rear quarter panel. Witnesses provided suspect vehicle information to police.


 

On July 5, a man reported that pistol, valued at $400, was stolen from his vehicle overnight in the 200 block of E. 2nd Street.


 

Sedalia Police arrested 18-year-old Abigail M. Sipe of Sedalia in the SPD lobby at 300 West 3rd late Friday morning around 11:30 a.m. Sipe was wanted on a Pettis County warrant with a $7,500 cash or surety bond. Sipe now has a July 23 court date.


 

On July 2, Robert Hiller reported that someone attempted to steal his trailer while parked at his residence in the 100 block of E. 19th. According to a report, the would-be thief manually pulled the trailer north in an alley, then east on 19th before leaving it in a ditch between the alley and Lamine. The incident occurred between 4:30 and 7 a.m. Tuesday. The trailer was returned to its owner and chained to the garage.


 

On July 3, Sandy L. Otten reported that someone stole her 16-foot JW flatbed trailer sometime between 4 p.m. July 1 and 3:30 p.m. July 3 at 2617 East Broadway.


 

On July 3 at 1:05 a.m., Sedalia Police arrested 25-year-old Haley Rae Wilson in the 900 block of Westwood. She was charged with 3rd degree assault. Wilson was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.


 

On July 4, a woman reported that someone forced entry into her storage unit at Easy Store, 3025 Clinton Road, sometime over the past month and stole $1,000 of tools.


 

On July around 11 p.m., a woman reported a break-in at her storage unit in the 900 block of Normandy. Taken were $800 worth of various items.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a subject check at 5:33 a.m. July 5 at Housel Park, 201 E. Howard and discovered that Jeffrey R. Strong was wanted on a Pettis County warrant for drugs. Strong was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $25,000 surety bond.


 

Pettis County Sheriff's deputies investigated a theft that occurred in the 3100 block of Brooking Park on Saturday morning.
