Sedalia Police Reports for August 16, 2024

Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West Saline Street in reference to a medical incident. The call was later was determined to be a motor vehicle accident. The vehicle struck a tree, causing injuries to both occupants. The driver was transported to the BRHC by PCAD.
Thursday night, Officers responded to the area of East 9th Street and South Garfield Avenue for a report of an attempted burglary. The suspect had reportedly tried to enter a house, but was unsuccessful. They were followed from the scene by a witness, before being detained and arrested by Police. Thomas Dale Howerton, 53, of Sedalia, was arrested for Burglary in the 1st Degree. Howerton, who the report notes was intoxicated, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.
Sedalia Police took a call from the 500 block of North Grand Avenue regarding a stolen firearm. Upon arrival, information was gathered for a report and the firearm was reported stolen.
Thursday afternoon, Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 2nd and Moniteau on a vehicle because it was failing to display its front registration plates. Officers discovered one of the occupants of the vehicle had an active felony warrant for his arrest. That warrant was issued in August of 2024 after an incident at the beginning of the month. In that report, the PCSO reported they were dispatched to a burglary in progress. The homeowner had confronted a subject who had forced entry into at least one barn on the property. The suspect had removed screws and damaged a latch to force entry. When he was confronted, he fled with a white sack containing unknown items. The suspect was located walking through a field near the Katy Trail. He was ordered at gunpoint to walk toward Officers, and refused. He was then ordered onto his stomach in the prone position. He then got up and ran back into the woods. He was located a short time later and taken into custody, but the white sack was not located. The suspect’s warrant carried charges of felony Burglary in the 2nd Degree and felony Resisting Arrest. Aaron J. Lindsey, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant and transported to the Petits County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.
Thursday night, Officers responded to the Heckart Community Center in response to a theft report. Lidiya V. Donets reported she had belongings stolen from a locker while she was at the center. The total value of the stolen items was valued at $100.
Officers were dispatched to the Sedalia Police Department lobby for a theft report on Thursday afternoon. The theft occurred in the 700 block of West Cooper Street. Officers spoke with Margarito Quetzecua and took more information to generate a report.
Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of South Missouri on Thursday morning for a report of theft. Upon arrival, Officers met with the caller, who stated they thought an employee had been stealing from the business for several years.
Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to a private property collision that occurred at the Phillips 66, 216 West Broadway Boulevard. Upon further investigation, a victim reported a separate non-injury assault took place after the collision occurred. A report was generated in reference to the non-injury assault. Angelia Ruth Asbury, 49, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for the non-injury assault.
Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East 11th Street for a reported traffic complaint. Officers identified a suspect, and discovered he had an active warrant out of Pettis County. The warrant was issued in June of 2024, after an incident that happened in March of 2024. In that traffic stop, a vehicle was stopped for failure to obey a stop sign. After a check with Dispatch, it was discovered the driver required an ignition interlock device. The driver showed Officers the interlock device, but it was disconnected. He stated he had recently had his transmission rebuilt, and the shop he used disconnected it. He stated the tubing was tucked away under the steering wheel and he kept the disconnected device in his center console. In July of 2024, he failed to appear in court. A warrant was issued on charges of Failure to Comply With Ignition Interlock Device Requirements. Shane Bradley Kroske, 33, of Warsaw, was arrested for his warrant. Kroske was transported to the Petits County Jail, pending a cash or surety bond of $3500.
Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of theft in progress. Officers identified a subject intercepted by Asset Protection. Ginny Rebecca Wolf, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Stealing. Wolf was issued a citation and released on scene.
On the afternoon of August 11th, Officers conducted a traffic stop into private property in the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard after observing a motor vehicle driving on public roadways while failing to display its front registration. Officers identified the suspect, and discovered he did not have a valid license. Officers placed the suspect under arrest after discovering multiple entries for driving without a license. Sergio Soterio, 49, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of No Proof of Insurance, Operating a Motor Vehicle On the Highway Without a License, No Seat Belt, and Failure to Affix License Plates. Soterio was booked and released.
