On Tuesday at 10:47 a.m., Sedalia Police responded to the 2700 block of West 16th for a suspicious person report. Officers made contact with the suspect, who had been entering a truck that did not belong to him. The truck owner wanted to pursue charges. 33-year-old Daniel J. Jones, homeless, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. State charges of stealing a motor vehicle, stealing, tampering with a victim and 4th degree assault were submitted to the prosecutor.


On Monday at 4:18 p.m., Sedalia Police responded to the 200 block of East Jackson reference an incendiary device. Officers found a device located next to a vehicle, and as a precaution, contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol Explosives Disposal Unit to assist in the investigation. MSHP rendered the device safe and the investigation is ongoing. No one was injured during the incident.


On Tuesday, Sedalia Police responded to Casey's, 3050 South Limit, for violation of an Ex Parte. The caller said her ex was in the parking lot, and was driving around as she took the trash out. The suspect then drove off and could not be located. A request for violation of an Ex Parte was submitted to the prosecutor.


On Wednesday, Sedalia Police responded to the 1000 block of South Merriam for a theft report. The victim reported that a generator, valued at $700, was stolen from the back yard. A suspect was named but not yet contacted at the time of the report.


On Tuesday at 3:47 p.m., Sedalia Police responded to the 1000 block of State Fair Boulevard reference a burglary report. Someone entered the victim's residence sometime between 1:36 and 3:25 p.m., and stole roughly $600 worth of items.


On Monday at 5:25 p.m., Sedalia Police took a theft report at Liberty Park, 1500 W. 3rd, in which the victim reported her cell phone was stolen while at the park around 4:30 p.m.


On Monday, Sedalia Police responded to the 800 block of East 6th for a disturbance. One party wanted to pursue charges after someone living in the home physically disciplined their child. The case was forwarded to the state prosecutor's office for review.
