This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department crime reports.


 

Early Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a suicidal subject in the 200 block of East 2nd Street. Upon arrival, Officers were informed by Dispatch (who was still on the phone with the caller), that they could not get to the door. The caller stated they were bleeding out by cutting themselves with a box cutter. Officers gained entry into the residence to locate the subject. The subject had multiple superficial cuts to the arms and throat, and had taken several bottles of medication. Officers, assisted by PCAD and SFD were able to the get subject to the hospital.


 

Sunday night, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 300 block of East 13th Street. Officers made contact with the subject, and checked their information with Dispatch. It was confirmed she had an active Failure to Appear warrant for her arrest. Lindsey Taylor Pahlow, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Animal Running At Large. Pahlow was cited for the infraction in November of 2023, failed to appear another two times in court, and a warrant was issued in February of 2024. Pahlow was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on her warrant, pending a cash only bond of $60.00.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the Discount Smoke Shop, 709 East Broadway Boulevard Monday morning in reference to an alarm. Upon arrival, damage was discovered. However, no entry was made into the business. The value of the damage was estimated at approximately $400. A report was made over the incident, and a suspect has not been located at this time.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to a domestic assault. Officers were able to determine a primary aggressor and placed him under arrest. Brandon Lee Paxton, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Paxton was transported to the Petits County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Officers were dispatched to the O’Reilly Auto Parts, 3203 South Limit Avenue on Sunday morning in reference to a theft. Officers documented two stolen pole covers, which were taken from the store.


 

On the morning of May 28th, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of West 2nd Street and South Ohio Avenue in reference to a subject check. Officers identified the suspect. Laquisha D. Miller, 46, Homeless, was issued a citation for Littering.

Saturday evening, Officers responded to t he Woods Express, 703 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a counterfeit bill being used. Officers spoke with the reporting party, and collected the bill.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the area of Vermont Park, 1400 South Vermont Avenue Saturday evening. Officers investigated a disturbance at the park and gathered information to generate a report.


 

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Grand Avenue and West 5th Street in refence to an attempted overdose. Officers collected the necessary information to generate a report.


 

Officers responded to the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive in reference to a custody issue late Saturday night. Officers identified the subjects on scene, and checked their information with Dispatch. One subject was found to have an active warrant for his arrest from Lee’s Summit. Marcelo Fernando, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a License. The citation was filed in August of 2023, with an order for fingerprinting. The defendant never appeared in court, and the latest FTA was issued in November of 2023, with a hold placed Ferando’s license in January of 2024. * Fernando was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in, pending a cash or surety bond of $500.00.


 

Saturday night, Officers responded to a call of a disturbance in progress. The subjects involved were located in the area of Leroy Van Dyke Avenue and Westwood Avenue. During the course of the investigation, both parties admitted to getting into a physical altercation. However, no primary aggressor could be determined. Both subjects were entered into a 12-hour log in accordance to Missouri Adult Abuse Law.


 

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a general information report. William Gravitt stated a vehicle he was following spilled paint in the roadway, and he got it on the underside of his vehicle. The incident took place in the area of North Missouri Avenue and West Main Street.


 

Last Tuesday afternoon, Virginia Birkett came into the lobby of the Police Department to report a theft. A credit card was opened in her name. A report was completed.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East 26th Street in reference to a vehicle theft. Officers were able to identify a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.


 

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the area of Skyline Drive and Wing Avenue for a report of a suspicious subject. The subject was seen swinging a guitar around and talking to himself. Upon arrival, Officers searched the area. The original reporting party contacted Police with an update in the area. Officers were able to locate the subject, Jonathan David Buri, 39, of Sedalia. Buri had a warrant for his arrest stemming from an incident in March of 2024. In that incident, Pettis County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Griessen Road and Randall Road in Pettis County for a 911 call. While enroute, JCOMM advised they could hear a male and a female, with the female crying to “help her.” Deputies made contact with the caller and the suspect at Lewis Roofing, 24981 Highway O. Officers spoke with both parties, and the male said nothing was going on, and he was allowed to be on the property. The female said the male was hitting her on the arms, and did not wish to seek prosecution. However, it was soon discovered that Buri had an Order of Protection for this property. The Order was placed in May of 2023, and specifically states Buri is not to enter the premises. A warrant, for charges of felony Violation of an Order of Protection (Second Offense) and misdemeanor Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree, was issued in May of 2024. Buri was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. No bond was mentioned in the report, nor was any listed in Casenet.


 

Thursday afternoon, Jennifer Stout came to the lobby of the Police Department to report a theft. A bicycle had been stolen off of her property in the 600 block of West 15th Street.


 

On the morning of May 28th, Officers spoke with Kevin Morrison regarding a theft. A debit card had been stolen from the 300 block of East Saline Street.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department to investigate a vehicle theft. The theft occurred in the 1100 block of South Ohio Avenue on the morning of May 31st. Officers identified a subject and gathered information for a report.


 

*Casenet 230006304 has the document listed from the Missouri Department of Revenue in the file. The document states “The following individual failed to appear for a traffic violation. Do not issue a license until further notice.” Since Fernando was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License, this means Fernando cannot go and get a license from the DMV until he settles this case.
