Tuesday night, Officers were investigating a search for a potentially wanted person. They observed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road in the area of East Saline Street and North Randolph Avenue. Officers stopped the vehicle, and discovered the driver was not the wanted person they were looking for. However, during the investigation into criminal activity, the subject attempted to flee. The driver was apprehended and found in possession of a needle, which tested positively for methamphetamine. The driver also had used needles in a container inside the car. After a series of field sobriety tests, it was determined the driver was impaired by drugs. Aaron J. Stoner, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), felony Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Stoner was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.


 

A theft report was taken in the lobby of the Police Department Monday night. An employee of Wal mart reported a theft that occurred on the evening of May 31st. The theft included skip scanning, as well as switching UPC codes on merchandise. The theft was valued at $138.70. A suspect has been identified for the investigation.

Tuesday night, Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding and illegal levels of window tinting. The stop took place in the area of East 10th Street and South Ingram Avenue. The window tint measured 13%*. Officers are requesting a charge of Illegal Material on the Front Side Windows to the driver and the vehicle owner, who were not named in the report.


 

Tuesday evening, Officers were dispatched to Renegade Auto Repair, 2200 West Main Street, to investigate a disturbance. A subject who was heavily impaired by drugs had entered the closed business and was arguing with staff. Officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody. Joseph S. Dawson, 43, of Sedalia, was placed on a 12-hour safekeeping hold due to his levels of intoxication.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the intersection of West 6th Street and Dal Whi Mo Court for a report of abandoned property. An all-terrain vehicle had been left in the roadway. Officers arrived on the scene and the ATV was taken to the Police Department to be held as found property. The owner of the ATV later called to report it as stolen. The owner then came to the Police Department with evidence of ownership, and the ATV was released back to the owner.
