Early Monday morning, Officers responded to the 100 block of West Cooper Street for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim, Broden E. Riley, reported seeing his vehicle before going to bed. However, when he went to leave for work in the morning, the vehicle was gone. The vehicle has been entered as stolen vehicle. About an hour later, Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Quincy Avenue regarding another stolen vehicle. Officers spoke with Ihor Torchylo, and gathered information to make a report. The vehicle has been entered into MULES as stolen.


 

Officers were dispatched to the residential area in the 1800 block of South Vermont Avenue, to investigate a past theft Monday morning. Officers spoke with the victim, and gathered information for the report. Items had been stolen from a vehicle. At this time, the suspect has not been identified.


 

Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Engineer Avenue to investigate a hit and run accident. Officers made contact with the witness, Chance Howard Todd, who stated a burgundy-colored van struck their red Ford F150. The van then continued driving, swerving in the roadway. Officers collected information for a report.


 

Officers were dispatched to the Stone Creek Apartments, 3100 Brianna Boulevard, for a domestic physical disturbance Sunday night. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with a female victim, who stated her ex-husband had rammed her with his vehicle. The victim stated the male suspect took the keys to the vehicle and hit her in the face. It was discovered the male suspect entered an innocent bystander’s apartment, looking for a male subject. Information was gathered for a report.


 

Sunday evening, Officers stopped a white car for following too closely near East Broadway Boulevard and South Emmett Avenue. Additionally, the vehicle had no front license plate, and illegal window tint on the front windshield, as well as illegal window tinting on the front side windows, measuring 5%*. Officers are requesting state charges on the driver for Illegal Window Tint, No Front Plate, and Following Too Closely for the driver, who was not named in the report.


 

Sunday evening, Officers stopped a vehicle for an illegal window tin on the front side windows. The stop took place near East 7th Street and South Washington Avenue. The tint measured at 12%*. Officers are requesting state charges of Illegal Window Tinting for the driver, who was not named in the report.


 

Officers took a trespassing report from the Break Time store, 318 West Broadway Boulevard, for a subject being on the property who had been formally trespassed previously. A report was collected, and a charge of Trespassing in the 1st Degree is being requested.


 

Early Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the End Zone Bar and Grill, 3129 West Broadway Boulevard for reports of a fight involving a knife. Officers arrived on scene, and after an investigation, determined a knife was brandished during a fight. Patrick J. Michel, 47, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.


 

Friday night, Officers responded to the 500 block of North Prospect Avenue and made contact with a female caller. The female caller stated she believed three people who had visited her house throughout the evening may have stolen her car keys. Information was gathered for a report.


 

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 6th Street and South Missouri Avenue. The driver was identified, and was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Brandon J. Miller, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Suspended. Miller was released from the scene with a citation.


 

Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 3200 block of West 16th Street in reference to a vehicle being broken into and personal belongings being stolen from the vehicle.


 

Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the Break Time store, 318 West Broadway Boulevard, regarding a case of trespassing. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with an employee. The employee stated a suspect had been trespassed from all the Break Times in town and had been on the property. The employee said the suspect had taken off before Officers arrived. Formal charges for Trespassing are pending through the Prosecutor.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Villa Complex apartments, in the 900 block of South Mitchell Road. The employees of the Villa Complex were concerned about a recently terminated employee that was supposed to come and return some items that belong to the business.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 3rd Street and South Kentucky Avenue Friday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle was found to have a revoked driver’s license. Joseph Kulian, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Revoked.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of East Tower Road for a report of Destruction of Property. Officers spoke with Vanessa Gay Bryant, Rodney Eugene Butler, and Gina Yavon Rogers. Officers gathered information to generate a report.


 

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to a harassment report in the 200 block of South Lamine Avenue. Officers spoke with the reporting party about the situation. When Officers checked her name with Dispatch, it came back she had a warrant out Morgan County. An order of protection had been adjudicated in June of 2023. In that order, the respondent was to have no contact with the petitioner in any way. The information stipulates she was not to use any third parties (including children) to communicate. The petitioner stated she had contacted him through Facebook, and had tried on Facebook to find someone to harm him. On April 5th, she sent him a message on Facebook saying, “Can you tell me where the stable rape pit is located? After you and all you men rape the women and shoot them afterwards, where is it located?” The warrant was issued in May of 2024 after that incident in April. Krestina Petrovna Borlak, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested for her warrant on charge of Violation of an Order of Protection. Bond was set at $2500 surety.

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Massachusetts Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard to investigate a hit and run accident. Officers arrived on scene and gathered information from Candra Jackson. A report was completed.


 

Officers responded to a civil standby in the 500 block of East 10th Street. Upon arrival, one person claimed to have been assaulted by a male. A report was generated.


 

On the afternoon of May 11th, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Stewart Avenue and West 3rd Street. The driver of the vehicle had a warrant for his arrest out of Carrol County. The driver had been cited for Speeding, clocked at 71 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. Christopher J. Artis, 45, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a cash only bond of $350.00.


Friday evening, Officers took a theft report in reference to a coin purse left in a shopping cart. Elaine Fisher stated she had left it in the cart at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard about an hour and a half earlier.


 

Early Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 400 block of East Chestnut for a report of a physical domestic disturbance in progress. The victim had stated she and her husband were lying in bed, and he was upset because she was telling someone about abusive situations. The victim stated he then jumped on top of her and placed his hand around her neck, while choking and shaking her aggressively. The victim stated the suspect apologized, and when she mentioned she and her son were moving in the morning, the suspect starting yelling and busting the wall with his head. He said he did not want to live anymore, grabbing pills and attempting to take them. The victim was able to keep him from taking the pills, while the suspect drove off in his car. Officers caught up to the vehicle a few moments later. The driver began yelling at law enforcement on scene, and was asked to step out or the vehicle. The driver initially refused, but eventually stepped out in an aggressive manner, while continuing to yell at Officers. The suspect was told to place his hands behind his back, but he continued yelling and began pulling away. The suspect began walking while Officers were placing him in handcuffs. The suspect was assisted to the ground, but continued pulling his arms away. Anthony B. Brewer, 48, of Sedalia, was arrested on two charges of felony Assault in the 3rd Degree (Special Victim), Resisting Arrest, and a charge of Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Brewer was transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a cash or surety bond of $25,000.


 

Saturday evening, Officers were dispatched to the State Fair Grounds, 2503 West 16th Street. Officers were specifically called to the women’s bathroom area next to the campground, regarding a past theft. Officers spoke with the victim and gathered information for a report. The item stolen was a cell phone. The phone was not located at this time.


 

On the afternoon of May 9th, Officers stopped a vehicle near West 16th Street and South State Fair Boulevard because it was speeding. The driver had as suspended license, had a warrant for his arrest, and was intoxicated. Margarito Marcos Quetzecua, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspended, and his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Indecent Exposure. Quetzecua was transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police observed a westbound Mitsubishi SUV drifting and failing to maintain its lane while on West Broadway Boulevard early Saturday morning. The vehicle turned southbound onto South Limit Avenue, failing to signal the turn. It crossed over the dashed white line by several feet during the turn. The vehicle was stopped at West 14th Street and South Limit Avenue. A DOR check revealed she had suspended license. The driver was processed on scene, but not named in the report. She was issued a court summons for Driving While Suspended, No Proof of Insurance, and failure to Signal.


 

On the afternoon of May 9th, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after it disobeyed the stop sign at West 10th Street and Thompson boulevard. The vehicle also had an illegal amount of window tinting* (25%). Officers are requesting a state charge of Illegal Material on the Front Side Windows. The driver was not named in the report.


 

Saturday morning, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle because it had illegal amounts of window tinting. The stop took place at West Broadway Boulevard and Winchester Drive. The tint measured at 4%*, well below the legal limit of 35%. Charges are being requested.


 

On the evening of May 11th, Officers checked a license plate near the area of West 16th Street and South Stewart Avenue, which returned to a subject with a warrant for their arrest. Jennifer E. Wiseman, 53, of Sedalia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Nuisance Violation due to abandoning a unlicensed vehicle (a black Chevrolet Malibu) in the 2200 block of West 2nd Street. Wiseman was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on her warrant, pending a cash only bond of $60.00.


 

Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a silver Volkswagen near East Broadway Boulevard and South Marvin Avenue because it had illegal window tinting. The tint measured at 17%*. Officers are requesting state charges. The driver was not named in the report.


 

Friday night, Officers initiated a traffic stop on West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue. The SUV was stopped because it had illegal levels of window tinting. The front side windows were recorded at 16%. The driver had no license, and Dispatch was unable to locate one through a computer check. Ernesto A. Che Xol, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License and Operating a motor Vehicle With Vision Reducing Material Applied. Che Xol was booked and released.


 

On the morning of May 10th, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Cooper Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified, and had three warrants for his arrest out Pettis County. Two warrants were charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. He also had a felony Failure to Appear warrant on charges of Stealing a Motor Vehicle. That charge stemmed from an incident in February 2024. A victim had stated the suspect borrowed her car a month prior and failed to return it. He then stated he was taking the car to Chicago, and “she would never find it”. Anthony Lamar Melton, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested for his three FTA warrants as well as a charge of Driving While Suspended. Melton was transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a cash or surety total bond of $10,331.50.


 

Officers observed an eastbound silver Chevrolet car negotiating the curve just east of South Marshall Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard early Wednesday morning. It crossed outside of the lane, over the dashed white line. It also had an illegal amount of window tinting. The vehicle was pulled over near the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Harding Avenue. The driver had a warrant out of Boone County from 2021, and the passenger had five warrants from the City of Sedalia. Samuel J. Blanchard, 58, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Boone County warrant on charges of felony Forgery, and felony Stealing. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety. The passenger was in possession of a controlled substance and introduced it into the Jail Facility. Marcus Mantrell McKnight, 36, was arrested on his FTA warrants on original charges of Driving While Suspended (4 Counts), Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, and Driving While Intoxicated. New charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Delivery of a Controlled Substance into a Jail Facility were filed. McKnight was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.**


 

Friday night, Officers were contacted while in the 700 block of East 24th Street. Officers were told a subject had found some property at Centennial Park. Officers took possession of the property. They attempted to contact the owner of the property, but were unsuccessful. The property will be logged in at the Police Department until the owner comes to claim it.


 

Saturday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was making an improper pass on a hill, and also was passing improperly through various intersections. The driver did not have a valid license, only an ID out of Mexico. Marco Hernandez, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Careless Driving and Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. Hernandez was fingerprinted, booked, and released at the Pettis County Jail.


 

On the evening of May 10th, Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of South Grand Avenue regarding a civil custody agreement. Officers spoke with both parties involved, and a report was generated for documentation purposes. While also on scene, it was determined one of the residents of the home had an active warrant for their arrest. Ruth Yamileth Rubio Turcios, 26, of Columbia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Authorizing Another To Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Financial Responsibility, and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. Turcios was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, pending a cash or surety bond of $200.00.


 

Friday evening, Sedalia Police investigated a domestic violence report in the 900 block of Westwood Drive. As a result of the investigation, it was determined a physical altercation had taken place, but a primary physical aggressor could not be determined. A 12-hour log entry was entered.


Thursday afternoon, Officers stopped a vehicle after it made an improper turn. The driver was also observed speeding at 47 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. The driver failed to yield before South State Fair Boulevard until it turned southbound on South Limit and pulled into the Mazzio’s parking lot. The suspect vehicle also had illegal amounts of window tinting (20%)*. Officers are requesting a state charge on the unnamed driver for the tinting.


 

Friday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a truck near West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue for illegal amounts of window tinting*. The window tint was set at 15%. Officers are requesting a state charge on the unnamed driver for the tinting.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a car near Brianna Boulevard and Thompson Boulevard for speeding at 46 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. The vehicle also had illegal amounts of window tinting* (13%). Officers are requesting a state charge on the unnamed driver for the tinting.


 

On the morning of May 6th, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 3rd Street for a report of an assault. The assault occurred on March 15th, 2024, in the 2400 block of Dennis Road.


 

Thursday afternoon, Rockney Turley came into the lobby of the Police Department to report his garage was broken into. The garage is located in the 1100 block of South State Fair Boulevard. The incident happened in the overnight hours. Turley reported his dirt bike was stolen from the garage.


 

Friday morning, Officers conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Barrett Avenue. Marshall T. Sims, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of felony Driving While Suspended.


 

On the afternoon of May 7th, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of South Kentucky Avenue and West 2nd Street for a report of a recent hit and run accident. Officers arrived on scene, and gathered information from the victim and witnesses. The video from surrounding buildings was also collected. The suspect vehicle was positively identified. A report has been completed, and charges were sent to the prosecutor’s office.


 

* Vehicles registered in Missouri can have the front side windows tinted to 35%, plus or minus 3% or more light transmittance, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. This means vehicles can get their cars tinted to where only 35% of sunlight can get inside the car, much less than the federal limit states.
