Sedalia Police Reports For September 10, 2020

Wednesday afternoon, Sedalia Police spoke with John R. Collins in reference to found property. Collins stated he found a debit card in the area of East 10th and South Massachusetts Avenue. Contact with the owner has not been made.

Officers responded to the Woods Supermarket in the 700 block of East Broadway Wednesday evening. Officers made contact with employees who reported that on September 8th, a male subject used counterfeit money to pay for merchandise from the store.

Early Thursday morning, Officers performed a subject check in the area of East Main Street and North Washington. Zachary Dewayne Palmer, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested on a Pettis County warrant for Stealing - 4th Or Subsequent Stealing Offense Within 10 Years. Palmer was transported to the Pettis County Jail and held on a $2500 cash or surety bond.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to a property damage incident not in progress in the 1300 block of Walker Circle. Dakotah R. Martin and multiple witnesses stated a subject was seen trying to kick in a door, causing minor damage.

Officers met with subjects at the Sedalia Police Department in reference to a possible child abuse/neglect incident occurring in the 2400 block of West 2nd Street Terrace Wednesday night. Initial information was gathered and the Child Abuse Hotline was contacted. The incident remains under investigation.

Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Headquarters to speak with a subject in the lobby who wanted to report a domestic assault. Officers spoke with Monique N. Boyd, who stated earlier that morning, her boyfriend came by her apartment in the 300 block of East 4th to get his shoes for work. When she let him in, they argued and he punched her several times. He gathered his belongings and left. Boyd believed the suspect was fleeing the state. Officers took photos of her injuries and attached them to the report. At the time of the report, the suspect was located for questioning.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West 4th for a report of theft Wednesday morning. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Cheryl L. Dillon, who stated that sometime over the past week, someone stole an oxygen tank inverter from her friend's pickup truck. The inverter was valued at $200. There are no suspects at this time.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 11th and South Park Avenue in regard to a tricycle on the side of the road near a drainage ditch. The tricycle was in very poor condition. The tricycle was recovered and placed into Found Property.

Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Headquarters for a report of found property Wednesday morning. Officers made contact with Lucy E.L. Busing, who stated she found a wallet and a cell phone in the 900 block of West 3rd Street. Officers tried to contact the name on some of the cards in the wallet, but were unsuccessful. Officers then packaged the items and placed them into evidence storage.

Wednesday afternoon, Sedalia Police made a vehicle stop in the 3400 block of West 32nd Street for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the stop, the operator of the vehicle, Alejandro Ruelas Jimenez, 29, of Sedalia, was found to not have a valid operator's license. Ruelas Jimenez was arrested without incident and transported to the Police Station for processing. Ruelas Jimenez was later released on a citation and given a court date.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1600 block of South Vermont Avenue for a domestic disturbance Wednesday morning. At the time of the report, Officers determined based off admissions of participants that a physical altercation had occurred. No one wanted to pursue criminal charges, and no physical injuries had been sustained. One of the participants agreed to leave the property to resolve the matter. A 12 hour log was completed as a result of the incident.
