The Sedalia Fire Department accepted a $1,500 check from Sedalia Wal-Mart Store Manager Adam McMillin on Tuesday morning. The check was a donation from Wal-Mart's Community Grant Program, according to McMillin.

"We were able to provide to the Sedalia Fire Department through our Wal-Mart Foundation," McMilllin said, adding that Wal-Mart has provided the SFD with grant money on numerous occasions for various projects.

Sedalia Fire Department Inspector Michael Jackson said the money will be used to enhance the fire department by purchasing a couple of iPads, "which will bring us further into modern technology and our reporting system of fire calls and inspection reports," Jackson said. "That's what we hope to do, and then we have to program them with the appropriate software."

Jackson thanked Wal-Mart #219 and store manager McMillin for supporting local communities and neighborhoods. "They operate globally to give back locally, so a big thank you to Wal-Mart and Adam."
