Sedalia’s Clean Sweep Is the Perfect Time to Tidy Up
It's been a couple of moves since we really did a big clean-up in the Creighton house. So we're doing it now, like the past three to four weeks. And let me tell you, we've generated a lot of garbage. At least a dumpster's full. The good news, if you're a Sedalia resident, is the City's annual Clean Sweep Program is back for another year.
Starting April 4, 2022, and running through the week of July 11, 2022, the City of Sedalia will have crews picking up bulky items three days a week. Here's how it works, the Clean Sweep Program devices Sedalia into 12 sections encompassing the area served by the City's Sanitation Division. Each week the City will focus on one of the 12 sections for clean up.
Here's a map for reference of what area is being focused on for each week. You can see a larger map here:
Each residence can place up to 4-cubic yards of bulky waste and 4-cubic yards of yard waste/tree trimmings at the cub during the Clean Sweep event. For reference, 4-cubic yards is the equivalent of two standard pickup truck loads, according to the City of Sedalia. If you place more than 4-cubic yards of bulky waste and 4-cubic yards of yard waste/tree trimmings at the curb, the City will add charges for the pick up on your next monthly utility bill. If you'd like more information on this, you can read the City of Sedalia's information on the Clean Sweep program here.
Everything you want the City to pick up should be placed at the curb between the sidewalk and the street in the greenspace by 6:00 AM CDT on the Monday your area's Clean Sweep week starts for pick up by the City.
The City is also asking that you separate the different types of waste you want the City to pick up into yard waste, construction and demo waste, unwanted junk, and finally appliances.
Hey, with the City willing to haul away your unwanted junk, and not charge you for it (within reason), now's the time to tackle that spring cleaning chore. You'll feel lighter when you do!
