State Fair Community College recently hired Rachel Dawson as the new Human Resources executive director.

Dawson's first day at SFCC was March 1.

SFCC says that Dawson has nearly 18 years of experience in Human Resources. Before coming to SFCC, she was the director of Human Resources at Waterloo Industries, Inc./Stanley Black & Decker-Sedalia. Dawson began her career with Sprint Nextel/Embarq as an employee solutions senior coordinator and advanced to manager and senior employee relations specialist. For three years, she was the area HR manager for Republic Services Inc., and for five years was the Plains Regional HR manager for Dr. Pepper Snapple Group..

“Employees are the most valuable resource of any industry or organization when it comes to growing and sustaining excellence across all levels,” said Dawson. “This is my first time to work in higher education, and I’m excited to use the knowledge and skills I have gained in the corporate environment to help the college’s employees reach their potential through fair and consistent employment practices.”

A press release from SFCC notes that Dawson attended Penn Valley Community College and Johnson County Community College. In 2007, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and HR Management from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
