The State Fair Community College Athletics Department will induct three new members into the Roadrunner Athletics Hall of Fame at its annual athletic banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Mar. 26 at the Missouri Electric Coop building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

Student athletes will be recognized for individual accomplishments and women’s and men’s basketball “fan favorite” awards as voted on via Twitter will be announced.

Inductees for 2013 are Dale Kimberling, former basketball coach for the SFCC Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners; former Roadrunner rodeo star Joe Peabody from Wisconsin; and former Roadrunner basketball player Orlando “Chuckie” Johnson from St. Louis.

Dale Kimberling launched his collegiate coaching career as head women’s basketball coach at SFCC from 1977-1979. He left to coach at North Central Missouri College from 1979-1987, then coached one year at Missouri Southern State University. He returned to SFCC in 1988 and served as head women’s basketball coach for 17 seasons, leading the Lady Roadrunners to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament in 1989 and 1999; he was named Region 16 Coach of the Year both years. Kimberling finished as Lady Roadrunners head coach with an overall 259-242 record. He then coached the Roadrunners from 2005 until his retirement in 2007. Over the years he coached numerous All-Region, All-American and Academic All-American student athletes. He was inducted into the North Central Missouri College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He was an outstanding coach who cared about his players both on and off the court, long after they left SFCC.

Joe Peabody, a native of Baldwin, Wis., was a member of SFCC’s 1978-1979 rodeo team. In 1979 the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) named Peabody Outstanding Participant, as well as All-Around Cowboy Champion for the Ozark Region. He went on to win Men’s All-Around Champion at the 1978-1979 NIRA national championship after competing in all six men’s events (bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, and team roping). He and his teammates competed against colleges and universities of all sizes, since there was no classification based on student population. Peabody, a 1979 graduate of SFCC, earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and received a doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1988. He practices in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Orlando “Chuckie” Johnson was a member of SFCC’s men’s basketball team from 1993-1995. The St. Louis native earned All-Region 16 honors twice during his Roadrunner career; he helped lead his team to a 14-17 record as a freshman and a 16-16 record as a sophomore. Johnson was named a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American player for his performance during his sophomore season. After graduating from SFCC, he transferred to Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I university in the Missouri Valley Conference. During his two seasons with the Creighton Bluejays (1995-1997) Johnson played 59 games, scoring 471 points and pulling down 359 rebounds.

The first two inductees to the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009 were Bob Hoskins, a charter member of the SFCC Booster Club, and Tim West, a former Roadrunner basketball player.

Inductees for 2010 were former basketball coach Bill Barton, Sedalia, and former basketball players Joe Wright, Carthage, and Aaron Collier, Atlanta.

The 2011 inductees were former SFCC employee and Booster Club member Alma Dey, Sedalia, and former Lady Roadrunners Caroline Levasseur, Québec City, Canada, and Simone Harlin, Lee’s Summit.

Inductees for 2012 were longtime SFCC Booster Club members and supporters D.C. “Doc” Payne and Bob Oehrke and former basketball player Jimmy Lassiter, Pennsylvania.
