Eighteen choirs from 13 school districts will compete Jan. 6 at the State Fair Community College invitational Show Choir Festival at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.

Critiqued performances of area high school show choirs will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. when an awards ceremony will be held. The public is invited. Admission is $5 for the entire day; attendees may leave and re-enter throughout the day. Concessions will be available provided by the SFCC Booster Club.

More than 400 singers and instrumentalists are expected to perform at one of the largest festivals SFCC has ever hosted. They will compete for awards in a variety of divisions including outstanding performance in small, medium and large school classifications as well as mixed and girls’ choirs.

Awards also will be given for Best Male and Female Performer, Best of Show, Best Vocal Sound, Best Ballad Performance, and Best Choreography.
