On Sunday (Feb 17), Sedalia Police responded to the 400 block of E. 7th Street at the request of the Sedalia Fire Department. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect had started a fire inside the residence (multi-unit), which filled other parts of the building with smoke. Authorities investigated, however the suspect had left the scene prior to officers' arrival. According to a police report, charges are being requested against the suspect for Failure to Obtain a Burn Permit. The name of the suspect was not released in the report and no other information was available.


On Thursday (Feb 14), a man reported to Sedalia Police that several items were taken from his vehicle. The victim stated his vehicle was parked in the driveway in the area of Stacey Lane when the theft occurred. The value of the items taken was placed at over $800.00. At this time, there is no suspect information.


On Wednesday (Feb 13), a woman reported to Sedalia Police that several items had been stolen from her vehicle in the 1600 block of S. Osage Ave. The victim also stated her roommate sent her a text earlier indicating the car doors were left ajar. When the victim checked the vehicle, she noticed someone had rummaged through it and several items were missing, including two bookbags that belonged to other victims, a wallet with a debit card, social security information, license and $125.00 cash. At this time, a suspect has not been identified.
