A convicted sex offender in Springfield has pleaded guilty in federal court to to receiving and distributing child pornography over the internet.

According to the United States Attorney's Office, investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding four images of child pornography reported by Yahoo! employees. Frank A. Kuhn was identified as the user responsible for the images. A search warrant was executed at Kuhn's Springfield residence on November 29. Investigators reportedly discovered multiple images of child pornography on digital storage devices. Kuhn entered a guilty plea to the charge on March 15.

Authorities say  Kuhn was convicted in 1994 of the deviate sexual assault of a 15-year-old in Newton County, Missouri.

Kuhn is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole, and could face up to 40 years without parole.
