David Letterman recently announced he would resign as host of the 'The Late Show.' The last seven days, names like Ellen, Neil Patrick Harris, Conan O'Brian and Steven Colbert were linked to being the new host. Now CBS has officially announced that Stephen Colbert will take over 'The Late Show.'

I thought Colbert was a long shot for the position, because his 'Colbert Report' character has become a Comedy Central icon. First he appeared on the 'Daily News,' before taking over his own show. Colbert defiantly has a loyal fan base and relates to younger audiences, similar to Jimmy Fallon, the new host of 'The Tonight Show.' So let the new late night TV rivalry begin.

With Colbert having such an iconic character, I did some research to see how Colbert acts when he is not in character. This gave me a better idea of what to expect from the new host.

The first video is Colbert in character, the rest are him out of character. Sometimes it can be hard to tell exactly what Colbert you are going to get. Even Oprah had check with him to make sure. Let us know what you think of the new host.
