In addition to strategic planning presentations, change orders and Christmas light contest winners, Sedalia Council also recognized a longtime City employee on the occasion of his retirement.

Eugene David has worked for the Street Department for 40 years, two months, and was applauded for his tireless efforts by the Council, and audience members present Monday night.

Mayor Pro Tem Andrew Dawson presented David with a certificate, while City of Sedalia Administrative Assistant Joleigh Cornine presented him with a set of fishing rods & reels, as well as a fish basket, to help celebrate his retirement.

“Forty years is a long time,” quipped Davis, as he returned to his seat.

Court Supervisor Lori Stewart was on the agenda to be recognized for 17 years, eight months of service, but she was unable to attend.

In other business, the Council reappointed George and David Esser to a three-year term on the Central Business and Cultural District Board of Directors. Their new term now expires in January of 2024.

Three liquor license renewals were approved by Council to end the night's official business:

*Adam McMillin, dba WalMart Superstores. 3201 W. Broadway, packaged liquor and Sunday sales, $450.

*Sandra Reynolds, dba Walgreens #7428, 801 South Limit, packaged liquor and Sunday sales, $450.

*Paul Bennett, dba American Legion Post #642, 2016 West Main, Sunday liquor sales, $300.
