Sedalia Mayor Stephen Galliher announced today (July 11) that Sedalia City Councilwoman Rebecca La Strada turned in a resignation letter yesterday afternoon. La Strada will step down from city council effective, July 21, 2014. Mayor Stephen Galliher reluctantly accepted the resignation of Wanda Monsees from her position as Second Ward Councilwoman on Tuesday (May 6) due to medical concerns.

The City of Sedalia officially swore in the new mayor and two new city council members at the Sedalia City Council meeting Monday night (April 22).

While the main issue at Monday night’s City Council work session (March 3) was a final review of the 2015 fiscal budget, the item on the agenda that garnered the most attention was amending the smoking ordinance for the City of Sedalia.

There was only one item on the Sedalia City Council's agenda at their meeting on Monday night (Feb. 10). The council held another public forum on the smoking ban that was put into effect in September of 2013.

The Sedalia City Council has decided to once again bring the smoking ban to the council chamber floor for discussion and possibly revision.
