A former volunteer at a small Missouri museum has been sentenced to five years of probation for stealing Civil War and World War I artifacts and then rearranging display cases to conceal the thefts.

Pettis County deputies responded to the 32000 block of Backbone Road on Monday around 11 p.m. on a disturbance call with weapons.

The 11th annual Sedalia Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, July 4 at Centennial Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Good Old Fashioned Fourth of July had amazing weather and great turnout this year. “This year we've had a more steady stream of visitors with the great weather we've had,” said event coordinator Terry Cockrell. "Last year the temperatures were above 100 degrees, and this year it was a lot more pleasant in the 70s and 80s."
