KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill is planning a series of town hall meetings and other events across Missouri next week to discuss expanding job and business opportunities.

On Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 29), Mayor Elaine Horn, Sedalia Fire Chief Mike Ditzfeld and Assistant Fire Chief Greg Harell gave local media a tour of the new fire station, located at 2606 West 16th St.

Last night (Oct. 1) Sedalia Fire Chief, Mike Ditzfeld and Deputy Fire Chief Gregg Harrell took the Sedalia City Council and the media on a guided tour of the new fire station, which is now more than 50% completed. The facility sports four Hugh bays that  will house the new larger fire truck that is due to arrive in November, along with other fire engines.

As a nostalgia nut, I am always happy to talk about my days growing up in Sedalia, and I love to hear or see something that triggers a memory from those days. On Monday, June 24, I got a good dose of nostalgia as I took the tour of downtown Sedalia with the Sedalia City Council and some other interested citizens.

I have lived in Missouri since 1985 and came here when my dad was stationed to Whiteman Air Force Base. I had never been to Ft. Leonard Wood to see what their post is like. This week I had the opportunity to see it first hand not only how the post works, but how it has great relations with the communities around it.
