You know, it's a strange thing, but I've never sat down and thought about the idea of work. I guess it was just always assumed that I'd get a job, since I'm not independently wealthy or something. It's almost something taken for granted.
There are many people living in Pettis County who do not have enough food to eat. Children go to school without breakfast, families struggle to put enough on the table to go around, and people sleeping rough can't always get what they need to stay healthy.
The old Wood's Store next to the Smith-Cotton Jr. High was recently sold. CVS Pharmacy is said to be moving in to that location, but decided to start from scratch. This week, Poort Excavating fenced off the location over the weekend and tore down the structure today (April 30). You can see photos of the demolition in this slideshow provided by Kevin Walker.
