Authorities say a teenager is recovering after falling 60 to 70 feet from a cliff near the Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area in southwestern Missouri.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital after the fall about 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Christian County sheriff's Lt. James Lofton says the teen was hiking near a quarry on private land when she lost her footing and tumbled to a ledge.

Lofton says the teen is recovering from her injuries, though he did not immediately know her condition.

The victim's name has not been released.
