The Missouri State Highway Patrol is currently searching for a subject who may have been the victim of a drowning or boating incident.

At 7:29 a.m., on June 30, 2016, Troop F received a report of a personal watercraft adrift at the 8.5 mile mark of the main channel, Lake of the Ozarks. When located, the personal watercraft was still idling. The owner of the watercraft was contacted and reported no one had permission to take or borrow it from Bay Point Condominiums in Lake Ozark.

Troopers and the Patrol’s Dive team conducted surface and underwater searches on June 30 and July 1, 2016. No person(s) were located.

Troopers have continued to conduct surface searches and investigate the incident over the weekend. As of July 4, 2016, preliminary information indicates the possiblity that the driver of the personal watercraft may still be in the water.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol requests the public’s cooperation in using caution around the 8.5 mile mark (“Twin Islands”) area of Lake of the Ozarks.
