Drake said both people were “suffering from apparent trauma” when firefighters found them. They were both declared dead at the scene, The Kansas City Star reported.

Police were looking for witnesses. In addition, homicide detectives, crime scene personnel as well as bomb and arson detectives, responded to the fire scene.

Anyone with information is urged to call KCPD detectives at (816) 234-5043. There is a $25,000 reward being offered for information leading to an arrest.

The killings mark the 125th and 126th homicides in Kansas City this year, according to the newspaper.
