Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Pettis County Monday afternoon.

According to the MSHP, 78-year-old Jack D. Bell of Warsaw was the driver of a 2007 Hummer on Route V, west of Coffey Road at 1:15 p.m., when the vehicle struck a guardrail, overturned and struck a 2013 Lexus driven by 49-year-old Anita M. Freeman of Marshfield. The Lexus traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The Hummer came to rest on its top.

Bell suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center by Warsaw-Lincoln EMS. Freeman suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment on scene.

Both drivers were wearing a safety device, the report said.

The Hummer was totaled, while the Lexus had extensive damage.

Pettis County deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
