ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Missouri Western turned a late interception into the game-winning touchdown to defeat Central Missouri 10-9 in the season-opener on Thursday night at Spratt Stadium.

The Mules forced three Griffon interceptions and outgained Missouri Western by over 200 yards, but the Mules turned the ball over inside the Griffon 10 to halt one drive, missed a short field goal on another and threw the interception late in the fourth quarter inside their own 10-yard line. UCM also had an extra point blocked after LaVance Taylor's 47-yard touchdown run late in the first half.
